1 Day Trip Ban Na / Muang Ngoi / Cave

The Tour starts by meeting up at the office in Nongkhiaw at 8:00 AM, with a friendly chat, a cup of coffee, or a tea, and you will get ready for your journey. Your guide will lead you for a short walk down to the boat, and the boat will rides upstream on the Nam Ou River to Ban Muang Ngoi for 1.30 hours. On the way, you will enjoy the beautiful scenery. Upon arrival in the peaceful village of Muang Ngoi, your English speaking guide will lead you for a short walk around the village to explore the simple life of the locals. Then continue an easy hike to Tham Kang Cave and Ban Na.

It takes about 1 hour to hike through rice paddies (seasonal) and buffalo farm to visit Tham Kang Cave, a history cave. This is a memorable place where locals escaped from bombings during the Secret and Indochina Wars. Afterward take about 30 – 40 minutes break to swim in a natural spring. Then continue hiking for 30 minutes through the peaceful rice field until you reach Ban Na, which is a remote village and people live without electricity. Here, you will experience the atmosphere and the lifestyle of the countryside of Laos.

Then take a break to have local Lao lunch and take a walk around the village. After visiting the village, start hiking back to Muang Ngoi by different way. On this way, it takes about 3 to 4 hours to get back to Muang Ngoi. Then take the boat ride downstream returning to Nong Khiaw around 5:00 PM to enjoy the beautiful sunset. End of the trip.
