M. Ngoi – SopJaem

The trip starts by meeting you up at the office orpicking you up at your hotel (in Nongkhiaw) at 8:00 AM for a friendly chat, then your guide will leading you to the scenic boat and ride upstream on a peaceful Nam Ou River. The scenery along the way will give you a sense of tranquility as you pass animals bathing and villagers fishing and going about their daily routines.

Our first stop is Muang Ngoi. You will explore this small and lonely village which has become a bit of a travelers retreat with local cafes sprinkled along the one road that the village is built around. We take a short hike up for 15 minutes to the cave where people used to live for hiding during the Indochina War. Then continue to hiking up about 5 minutes to the top of viewpoint, overlooking the valley that surrounded by breathtaking limestone mountains and scenic riverside landscapes. Then going back down to take a rest at the small shop down there, and enjoy sitting your back with a river view.

After a short break, we depart Muang Ngoi by boat, and travel further upstream to the small and welcoming village of Sop Chem, weaving village.

Here you will enjoy learning about weaving from your guide and you will have the opportunity to look around the village and also have the chance to buy one of the many weavings that are for sale at bargain prices. By now you will be feeling a little hungry so we find a good spot to enjoy lunch. Afterward, heading back Nongkhiaw by boat and taking in more of uninterrupted impressive views. Getting to Nonkhiaw by 17:00 PM. End of the trip.
